I like that this is a corded roller mouse, and it works really well so far.

You can read elsewhere in the reviews about the cult-like status of this discontinued product. Used ones are rare, new ones are extremely rare--hence the very high price (but less than from some other sellers). If you are a committed trackball user (as I have been for decades, trackballs are used on military platforms since mice would slide around), particularly those that point with your thumb vs. finger, then you may consider this item to be worth its price. I do.

Exactly what I was looking for and works perfectly! The picture shows corded but it is cordless.

Effectivement, la souris est vraiment super. Si comme moi, vous en avez partout sur le bureau ou que vous en avez marre de bouger le bras (...) la Trackball est LE produit par excellence. A l'heure du tout portable et sans jouer trop dans l'adjectif, la souris est bien réactive et pas fatiguante pour le poignet ou les doigts. Je la trouve même reposante puisque la main est soutenue. Je l'utilise avec ma main droite et je fais travailler le pouce sans gène. Les boutons sont bien positionnés avec une inclinaison correcte. La molette de défilement fonctionne aussi très. Sous Windows 7, la souris est reconnue immédiatement. Le CD livré avec les drivers permet d'installer un produit de configuration, qui me semble inutile, sauf pour gérer les niveaux de précisions (mouai) et aussi installer le soft qui fait des doit faire des vérifs de version (bof). Je dirais que c'est un programme de plus pour alourdir le démarrage de Windows, mais ce n'est vraiment pas objectif comme commentaire !Donc 5 étoiles, car le produit rempli parfaitement sa tâche et sans aucun désagrément physique.

Using a Microsoft Trackerball mouse for years of artwork, has given me serious RSI symptoms from constant use of the middle finger on the "ball" mechanism. So I solved this with the "wired" version of the Logitech Trackman Wheel - you use your thumb for the rollerball (to move the cursor around the screen) not the middle finger. (Do NOT confuse it with the Logitech Marble Mouse - NOT the same thing!)The Logitech Trackman Wheel is just a FANTASTIC design! The "wired" version, being quite big, fits the hand comfortably - your hand just relaxes onto it. The thumb operates the "ball" (the cursor), the fingers just rest on the other buttons and wheel - a quick downward pressure of Index Finger for "left click" and same with Ring Finger for "right click". The "wheel" (operated without exaggerated movement of the Middle Finger) is very responsive, easy to move up and down the page quickly - but for multiple page scrolling, just "click" the wheel to lock it onto "scrolling" mode, and then with minimal use of your thumb on the "ball", scroll up, down or left and right - as fast or slow as you like - fantastically quick and responsive.Holding down the left button with the Index Finger and operating the ball with the Thumb for long-distance "drag & drop" or large areas of "highlighting", does require some concentration at first. Persevere - it's worth it!I've only used the factory settings, but it comes with a "CD" so you can customise the buttons.Being a static mouse you can place it on any surface - I use it on the arm of my chair (or even my thigh!) so my elbow is comfortably supported - my RSI is non-existent when using the Logitech Trackman Wheel!!

Durch Empfehlung bin ich zu diesem Trackball gekommen. Vorher war mir nicht bekannt, dass es solche tollen "Alternativen" zu herkömmlichen Mäusen überhaupt gibt. Ich gebe ihn nie wieder her. Ich kann nicht verstehen, dass es überhaupt noch "normale Mäuse" gibt. Der Trackball sollte Pflicht sein. Jeder sollte einen haben. Die herkömmlichen Mäuse könnten vom Markt genommen werden. Dies ist das Eingabegerät der Wahl (für Rechtshänder - Linkshänder können auf die Logitech Marble Mouse ausweichen).Vorteile:- Verhinderung von Beschwerden in Handgelenk und Schulter (Mausarm)- Ermüdungsfreies komfortables Arbeiten am PC auch über den ganzen Tag hinweg- Geringer Platzbedarf auf dem Schreibtisch, da "die Maus" nicht auf dem Schreibtisch hin- und hergeschoben werden muß- Hand liegt beim Surfen absolut bequem auf dem Gerät (ergonomisch geformt)Die Bedienung war einfacher als erwartet. Die Umgewöhnung auf den Trackball dauerte bei mir nur circa 2 Stunden. Dann hörte ich auf, den Trackball insgesamt hin- und herschieben zu wollen wie eine herkömmliche Maus. Auch bei langem Arbeiten gibt es keinen Druck mehr auf Handgelenk oder Schulter. Bin seit Benutzung beschwerdefrei. Die Navigation funktioniert überraschenderweise sogar schneller als mit einer "normalen Maus".Tips:Das Scrollrad kann man über die mitgelieferte Software zusätzlich als Drucktaste einrichten. Man wählt bei der Einrichtung des Scrollrades einfach "Tastendruckzuweisung" und dann beispielsweise als Tastendruck "RÜCK" (ohne Anführungszeichen). So kann man beim Surfen im Browser zum Beispiel bei Druck auf das Scrollrad eine Seite zurückgehen. Sehr praktisch wie ich finde. Natürlich kann man auch je nach Vorliebe dem Scrollrad (sowie der rechten als auch der linken Taste) andere Funktionen zuweisen. Das geht einfach und schnell.Bei Verschmutzung, d.h. falls der Trackball anfängt, etwas schwergängig zu werden, kann man ihn ganz einfach rausnehmen und selbst reinigen. Dazu auf der Rückseite mit einem Gegenstand (z.B. Stift mit Stoff umwickelt, um den Trackball nicht zu beschädigen) durch die runde Öffnung, durch die der Ball etwas sichtbar ist, drücken. Der Ball kann nun rausgenommen und abgeputzt werden. Dies ist ca. nur einmal im Jahr notwendig.Auf YouTube gibt es sehr gute Review Videos zum Trackman Wheel als auch zur Marble Mouse, wo man sich auch noch einmal detaillierter informieren kann.Fazit: Nur noch Trackball!

I purchased the trackman because I use my computer for very long hours and I was suffering from Repetative Strain Injury in my right wrist and forearm using an ordinary mouse.I quickly got used to the device although getting the mouse pointer from one corner of the screen to the other does require an excessive amount of ball spinning.I set the device up in Windows 7 to maximum pointer speed less two notches and selected 'Automatically move pointer to . . .'(Control Panel>Hardware and Sound> Devices and Printers> right click on trackball and select settings>pointer options.) and this helped.The pain in my arm dissappeared and I was very pleased. However after a few weeks, I'm starting to feel the same RSI in different places. I was thinking of using my ordinary mouse again for a while and possibly alternating between the two..
