MLB SouthPaw Backpack

I bought this as a school backpack for my 9 year-old son and he has been very happy with it. We are now 2/3 of the way through the school year and it is still in excellent condition, with the exception of the mesh side pocket, which has torn under the weight of my son's plastic CamelBak water bottle. Otherwise, this has been a great backpack. It is large (definitely the same size as my own Patagonia women's backpack) and he can fit his Planet Box lunch box, multiple library books, folders and snacks. The straps are nicely padded and comfortable for my son's daily walk to school. If the manufacturer would just swap out the mesh water bottle pocket for solid fabric, this would be the ideal backpack.

I bought this backpack off of Amazon about 2 weeks before we left for spring training this year and I absolutely loved it. We were traveling to Arizona for about a week to watch baseball and in addition we are Rockies season ticket holders so I knew it would get a lot of use this summer. It was my primary backpack throughout the whole time in Arizona, I carried it on the plane and then put various things in it for every game we went to (water, snacks, autograph items, etc.)It was a nice carry on because it fit wonderfully under the seat. However from the beginning you could feel that the zippers were cheap and you would have to be careful with them. Back in Colorado a carried it to every game this year and as expected it would get some wear and tear on it, but it has turned out to be pretty cheap. The bottom of it is very roughed up and there are holes in a few places and the zippers have been very touchy all summer. So in all, it is a nice backpack if you are looking for cheap, but the zippers are bad and the material is cheap.

Got this for my son for Christmas. Generally I only buy Lands End backpacks as they are guaranteed and designed for smaller frames. However I wasn't thrilled with the quality of the last one I ordered. I took a chance on this since my son is a huge Cubs fan. So far I am not disappointed. The material is very sturdy and appears that it will survive daily use and abuse. The zippers appear to be substantial and work well. There is plenty of room for all of his belongings. Today he packed in it a pair of snow pants for recess, tennis shoes for gym, his lunch cooler, and a book and a folder. My only feedback is this isn't specifically designed for kids. The dimensions are a little large for a smaller frame, and I wish it had some reflective trim since it is still dark when we head to the bus stop. These are my issues though. My son loves it.

This is a nice BRS backpack at a super price, far below any similar product found in local stores, and much more well-made. I only gave this four instead of five stars because of its size, as I was expecting a traditional-sized backpack, however with my son being eight years old, and not having the necessity of toting large books back and forth to and from school yet, this is the perfect size for him. The shoulder straps are well-padded. The larger compartment is perfect for bringing home his binder, folders, and getting his tennis shoes to and from school for gym. The front pocket easily accommodates his pencil box and and any other smaller needed daily supplies. It serves it's purpose perfectly.

I bought this bag at the start of the 2014/15 school year (my son was going into first grade). I waited to write my review because I wanted to see how it would hold up the entire school year. It did great. The back pack is still in good shape. The zippers still work and the straps are still enact. The only spot on the backpack that shows wear is the bottom of the bag. The are a few spots were it has worn super thin. While the bag is no longer used to carry books, it works great as an overnight bag.Overall, great bag, for a wonderful price.

Great purchage i am a huge yankee fan and was not dissapointed what so ever with the backpack i am currently using it at a university level wich you know books are a bit heavy and 3 months in the semester no issues with the backpack its a one of a kind purchase oviously if you are a yankee fan asides from that shipping took a week to arrive im in texas so i understand the delay but even then i felt i was fast for the low price overall im am a satisfied customer!!

Great for a Cards fan. The price was very reasonable compared to other backpacks out there. Only time will tell if it will hold up through out the school year.Update: 2 months into the school year and the zipper has broke (Ironically the day after the Cardinals lost the playoffs). The rest of the bag is still in great shape but now I have to fix the zipper. So I'm changing my review to 3 stars. If the bag is not for everyday use it would be great but probably not for a child to take to school everyday.Update number 2: Zipper broke again! My son loves the Cardinals but can't use the bag anymore. Like I stated before I WOULD NOT RECOMEND THIS BAG FOR EVERYDAY USE. If this bag is for occasional use it would be fine. So Now I'm changing my review to 2 stars.

One of the best things about this bag, is when my 7 yr old son went back to school his SF Giants bag was one of a kind. Lots of SF backpacks, he can't get confused. The only thing I would have liked to see is the handle built into the straps vs. on top of the bag..

My son loves his Blue Jays bag! Unfortunately it tore on top just after a week of him using it for school. I'm not impressed with the quality of the bag for the price I paid for it.
