Hassle-free texting from a shield -- thumbs up!

Wow -- I had this up and running in only a few minutes -- and I'm hardly an experienced Arduino user. The bottom line: it works -- the adafruit libraries work great with it. It seems very well-designed -- it has a power button, analog audio in/out ports, and LEDs for status of the device. It worked fine with a T-mobile SIM card. Use an adapter if you have a smaller-sized SIM card.

Amazon Sent Me a Open Product

When I got the shield in the mail, the shield was clearly already tampered with. When I ran the calibration code from the TinySine distributer website, the shield failed to connect in every way. Amazon must have sent me a shield that was returned for not working and then gave it to me. I recommend buying straight from the TinySine website instead of trusting Amazon.

Sadly, a waste

So I am rewriting my review for this device. I was able to get voice and SMS working, but it turns out this "3G" device is only "2G" and no major US cell provider supports 2G anymore, so data is not supported.

I was able to send AT commands to it to ...

I was able to send AT commands to it to get and send text messages, but I never did figure out the combination of commands needed to send simple data to an IP address - I tried to have it indirectly pass data to a server via asking for a dummy web address with the data after a & - I probably took 4 or more hours to figure this out and failed - but maybe if I would have tried longer, it would have worked. It is possible the fault was a verizon (or maybe I used ATT) sim card (make sure to get the right size). The chinese customer support people are of course no helt

Decent board but needs a little more information.

Could have made finding useful things like libraries a little easier. I think that I finally got it to work, but still working on it. The seller was cooperative in making himself available to answer questions.

this one worked the best. The 3G is no nonsense

After trying many other shields, this one worked the best. The 3G is no nonsense. The T-Mobile and ATT cards work fine(American only tested). The library provided is from Adafruit, but expect no support from them. Range is good, all functions work as described.
